Private Lands Management
About 80 percent of North Carolina’s land is privately owned. Private landowners set the goals for their property and decide how their property will be managed. There are many land use options for landowners to consider. The process of defining goals, then planning and implementing land management activities can be confusing for many property owners. The NCWRC recognizes the critical role that managing private land has on our wildlife resources. Private landowners can benefit our native wildlife by implementing appropriate activities. Common and rare species, game and non-game species can all benefit from a landowner’s efforts. NCWRC has conservation biologists who are well-versed in many facets of wildlife management and are available to provide guidance for landowners who want to improve wildlife habitat on their property.
Programs for Landowners
There are several NCWRC programs available to assist landowners meet the wildlife objectives they have for their property.
